The project will involve identifying the potential market for CTU's services, understanding and examining the decision-making process and finally making recommendations toward a marketing strategy focused on how APT can better market CTU's services, based on the analysis above.
City of New Haven/Town Green Special Services District
The Greater New Haven Transit District has acquired four battery powered electric trolleys to improve mobility in New Haven's downtown through environmentally friendly means. The city would like to boost ridership and encourage city residents to take advantage of this free "green" means of transportation. As part of this effort, the city has asked an SOM Outreach team to conduct a Market Assessment. The project involves: estimating total potential demand and market receptivity using survey techniques; and using survey results to assess the trolley target market so as to better define the city's route choice and marketing strategy.
Great Valley Chamber of Commerce
The Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce is a returning SOM Outreach client. The Outreach Team was brought in to provide support for its Naugatuck River Valley Economic Development Initiative. This year's project will seek to develop a business retention and recruitment program to serve the communities of Ansonia, Derby, Seymour, Shelton, Beacon Falls and Oxford. This year's Outreach team will conduct an analysis of the existing business composition, examine growth trends in the past and its implications for future growth trends, identify the assets within the communities (i.e. labor, land, funding) and finally provide recommendations toward a regional marketing strategy focused on business retention and recruitment, based on the above analysis.

Youth Continuum
Youth Continuum meets the crisis needs of homeless and at-risk youth while helping them to work toward long-term independence. Youth Continuum recognizes the unreliable nature of government funding, and it would like to initiate an entrepreneurial venture. It proposes leveraging its existing expertise in providing stability to at-risk adolescents to offer local colleges and universities support services for their at-risk students.
The Outreach team worked to further develop the entrepreneurial venture. Specifically, the team assessed the potential market which involved conducting market research to size the need in the market and created a revenue model which involved understanding the size of the market and the demand for the product. The team's work culminated in a presentation to the Board of Directors.
