REACHING OUT CONFERENCE
Reaching Out is the third annual conference of gay, lesbian, and
bisexual business students. Jointly sponsored and organized by the
GLBT M.B.A. students of Stanford University, Thunderbird, and the
Anderson School at UCLA, the conference will provide a forum for
students from leading business schools and business leaders to share
information, build networks, and promote cooperation. The goals
of this annual conference are to encourage the acceptance and visibility
of GLBT individuals in the workplace and foster the development
of inclusive and supportive working environments. The official website
is www.gaybiz.org.
Yale School of Management is coordinating a panel entitled Communicating
Gay Friendliness at the Reaching Out conference. Here is a description:
COMMUNICATING GAY FRIENDLINESS:
"From marketing campaigns to community builing, this workshop
focuses on concrete ways that businesses can reach out to the LGBT
community to show a genuine understanding and commitment to our
issues. Workshop leaders will investigate some of the stellar examples
of companies with gay-friendly environments, what was needed to
spark the change, and what it took to get there. Participants will
come away with better knowledge of who the movers and shakers are,
what can be done to improve a company's image and what factors might
be necessary to do so."
