Yale students can find the best learning not in the
classroom, but in the New Haven community." --

Mission
Founded in 1986, SOM Outreach (formerly the Outreach
Management Consulting Group) is a student-run organization
providing pro bono consulting services to nonprofit, public
and private organizations in the community. In so doing, we
hope to foster a close relationship between the students of
the Yale School of Management and the greater New Haven area.
We expect to broaden our learning experience through the
useful application of management skills while expressing the
community values we believe to be integral to our school.
"It's a classic win-win because organizations get this
wonderful consulting that they otherwise wouldn't be able to
afford and students get to be allowed to consult in a way that
they probably wouldn't be able to otherwise." -- Professor
Sigal Barsade
"I think that's why a lot of students do SOM Outreach:
Putting to use your business skills and getting involved with
the community that you're going to school in." -- Student
Coordinator, Alisa Masson '01
"They were clear, their agendas were clear, they ran
the meetings, they came prepared, and they put a lot of time
and effort into a very comprehensive plan." -- client, Sandra
Malmquist, director, Connecticut Children's Museum.
