Phil Gilbert joined Lombardi Software in 2002 and serves as its Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Phil is the Chairperson of the Object Management Group's (OMG) BPM Steering Committee. He brings more than 20 years of experience in technology start-ups plus 6 years in consulting and executive positions for non-technology businesses.
Phil is responsible for Lombardi’s technical strategy and product delivery, with the Products Group reporting to him. After joining KPMG in 1978, Phil served as CFO of a publicly-held insurer in Oklahoma until the company was acquired. In 1986, he formed The Gilbert Technologies Group in Pacific Palisades, California - a company that was at the vanguard of graphically-based distributed computing. In 1989, the company's first product was released as a result of a joint venture with Microsoft and others. Offices in Seattle, Amsterdam and London followed, and the company's software was deployed across four continents.
In 1996, Phil led the development of the first Internet standards-based document management system for a customer with locations throughout the UK and Europe. In 1998, he joined the Austin-based Trilogy group, where he was CTO of the Communications Business Unit when he resigned to join Lombardi.
Phil has been awarded four patents in the area of distributed transaction management, has served on numerous industry committees and panels, and was a founding Board member of RosettaNet, serving until 2001. Phil graduated as a Pe-et (top ten) senior from the University of Oklahoma in 1978 with a Bachelor of Accountancy degree, with special emphasis in the Computer Sciences.
