Connecticut Venture Group: International Trade Workshop: This is the first international workshop of the continuing series of meetings for the Entrepreneurs Association. The topic will be presented on two different dates – one in February in Stamford and again in March in Bridgeport. Companies with plans to do business internationally or those already involved in overseas transactions will learn how to attract new customers, reduce costs, evaluate overseas sources for supplies and services, and the impact of foreign exchange rates. Sagun Saxena, Chief Executive Officer of Energy Pvt. Ltd. will speak at the Yale University School of Forestry & Environmental Studies on Friday, February 22rd, at noon in Bowers Auditorium, Sage Hall, 205 Prospect St. His talk, entitled "Launching a Biofuels Start-up in India: CleanStar, Jatropha and Economic Development," is sponsored by the Industrial Environmental Management (IEM) Program. Since its launch in late 2005, CleanStar has been partnering with leading research institutes to evaluate the commercial potential for growing plants and trees on a sustainable basis on land that is not used for food production. To date, the company has planted more than 100,000 trees using a wide variety of planting material and agronomic management practices. In 2008, the company plans to start developing its first commercial BioFuel feedstock plantation projects in Asia, Africa and Latin America in partnership with a global agribusiness company, investment fund, and BioFuel supplier. Stanford Entrepreneurship Week: February 22 - 29, 2008. As part of the week-long collection of activities, we will be hosting a special Innovation Tournament and want to invite Yale students to participate. This tournament will be similar to last year's Innovation Challenge where we gave student teams one pack of Post-It notes and challenged them to create as much value as possible in one week. The challenge will be announced on the evening of Friday, February 22 and participating students will have until Thursday, February 28 to complete the project. This year all submissions will be in the form of short (3 minute or less) videos that will be uploaded onto a special page on YouTube. Ignite Clean Energy – Business Plan Presentation: Friday, February 29th.Submit Online – 5:00pm. One of the Cambridge Forum’s big focuses in the last several years has been on building a community of interest – and facilitating connecting team members to build real companies – in the energy space. The IGNITE Clean Energy (ICE) Competition has played a key role in this. In the past, the Competition has been publicized in Massachusetts.
