  • Comparison of operation model, funding strategies and end user costs of similar services
  • Study of viability of a selected funding strategy.
  • Proposal of expansion plan.

  • Genesis Logo Genesis Foundation
  • NGO that strives to 'give back' to Colombia and the United States by creating the conditions necessary for disadvantaged children to have access to quality education from which they are often excluded. Genesis seeks to give these youngsters the basic building blocks for their development by investing in non-profit organizations that provide quality education and complementary health services to underserved children.

    Deliverables:
  • SWOT analysis of Genesis investments to date - undertake a more in depth study of a sample of our projects that are representative of our work to date
  • Strategic advice on how to focus our social investments going forward
  • Identify the organizational resources the strategy outlined in deliverable #2 would require

  • NGO that contributes to sustainable development in Latin America by encouraging productive alliances based on trust among social and business leaders and by brokering consensus around agendas for action.

  • Characterization of best practices in business models that promote social inclusion,
  • Market studies to identify actors related with inclusive business models in Water, Recycling/Waste Management, Crafts, Tourism or Agriculture

  • NGO dedicated to the promotion of sustainable use of biological diversity as a mechanism for conservation and sustainable human development.

    Deliverables:
  • Create and develop a Business Plan (eco-tourism) for the Natural Reserve “Encenillo”.
  • Marketing Strategy for certification services.

  • WWF Logo World Wildlife Fund - Colombia
  • WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature by: conserving the world’s biological diversity; ensuring the use of natural resources is sustainable; and promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.

    Deliverables:
  • Financial analysis and business plan for the WWF Colombia Program
  • Marketing strategy and plan to develop stronger support for the program especially with the private sector
  • Branding-marketing and communications strategy for the promotion of responsible forest product commercialization in Colombia

  • New Ventures Logo WRI-New Ventures & Los Andes
  • The Management Faculty of the University of Los Andes recently signed an agreement with World Resources Institute to launch the New Ventures Program in Colombia. (http://www.new-ventures.org/) The New Ventures Program must develop a series of feasibility studies before it is officially launched in the country, including: i) studies on sources of financing and investment for sustainable enterprises in Colombian and the Amazon- Andean region; ii) a network of partner institutions; iii) fundraising strategy to operate de program; iii) institutional and legal framework for venture and other funds in Colombia; iv) identification of potential sectors and/or companies/enterprises with the greatest possibilities for success.

    Deliverables:
  • Mapping of venture capital and private equity in the Colombia and the Andean region in general, and specifically for sustainable enterprises: existing players and legal framework
  • Market study on sustainable enterprises in Colombia and the Andean region: most promising sectors in terms of growth and possible investments.
  • Identification of enterprises/sectors with greatest possibilities of success: organic agriculture, ecotourism, clean energy etc.
  • Design of a financial/investment mechanism or fund that will channel and provide capital to selected enterprises, given international experiences and best practices.
  • Operational strategy for the New Ventures program, including the participation of graduate students from the University of Los Andes and other international universities.
